Delegation of Department of Justice of Guangdong Province Visits Correctional Services Bureau (2019-11-11)
A delegation of the Department of Justice ofGuangdong Province, headed by its Director-General, Mr. Zeng Xianglu, visitedthe Correctional Services Bureau on 11 November, for a meeting with ourDirector Cheng Fong Meng, Deputy Director Loi Kam Wan and othermanagement-level personnel, exchanging views on topics related to the prisonadministration affairs in Guangdong and Macao.
The meeting began with the personnel of the CorrectionalServices Bureau introducing the organization structure and operation mode ofthe Bureau, which was followed by an exchange of views between both parties relatingto the current situation and development of prison administration in the twojurisdictions and a sharing of practical experiences concerning prisonmanagement systems, inmates’ parole system and the system of detention at theYouth Correctional Institution. Director Cheng Fong Meng mentioned in themeeting that thanks to the close geographical locations and culturalsimilarities between Guangdong and Macao, the prison departments in both jurisdictionshad been able to maintain close ties, communication and friendship; he went onto voice his belief that through continual exchanges and cooperation, theprison management standards of both places would definitely be upgradedsimultaneously.
Personnel of the Bureau also introduced toDirector-General Zeng and other members of the delegation the daily equipmentof our prison guards and guided them on a tour of the facilities of ColoanePrison and the Youth Correctional Institution including the visit room, cells,juvenile delinquents’ dormitory and education building, so as to inform thevisitors of our functions, the legislation concerning correctional services andour operation. During the process, the juvenile delinquents in our facilitiesprepared cups of lattes to the delegates, who gave compliments on the qualityof the beverages and encouraged the juveniles to carry on with their learningefforts.
