Macao Prison participates in the 3rd "Asian Prisons Lockdown Challenge"

Team Events
There were three team events in the Challenge, namely, "The Marksmen", "Search & Rescue" and "Mayhem In The Yard".

1. The Marksmen
In "The Marksmen", teams had to hit the static target within the shortest time possible, so that their speed and precision were tested.

2. Search & Rescue
Teams were required to, within the shortest time possible, conduct operation planning and tactical deployment, as well as memorize the competition guidelines and rules provided by the host, which included the faces of the targets to shoot at and rescue, i.e. the hostages, the injured and the antagonists, as well as the passwords for the cell gates. Then, putting on equipment and weapons, participants had to overcome the obstacles, swiftly confirm the identities of the antagonists and knock them down before rescuing three dummies weighing 100 lbs each and moving them to the designated location. A time penalty would be given for breach of competition rules. The team accomplishing the missions within the shortest amount of time would be the winner.

3. Mayhem In The Yard
In "Mayhem In The Yard", after equipping their gear and weapons, teams had to break open the cell gate, drop the stun grenade, confirm the identities of the antagonists and shoot the targets down with bean bag bullets in a swift manner. Teams would then proceed to find and rescue two 100-lb and two 50-lb dummies, before moving them to the designated location. A time penalty would be given for breach of competition rules. The team accomplishing the missions within the shortest amount of time would be the winner.

The Specialist
"The Specialist" was an individual event aiming at testing participants' physical fitness and professional skills as correctional officers. Participants were required to complete a series of challenges, such as running while shouldering a 100-lb dummy, overcoming 10 physically difficult obstacles, searching within detention areas and shooting, etc. The participant who completed the all the challenges with the shortest amount of time would be the winner.

Demonstration
After the competition, the participating teams from different regions showcased their respective tactics adopted in quelling riots in detention areas, enabling sharing, observing and learning of best practices. For the event, Macao Prison simulated a riot in the detention area, and demonstrated its techniques of containing the trouble-making inmates and suppressing the riot with various equipment and limited human resources.
