The Correctional Services Bureau held a promotion ceremony for superintendents and senior chief officers on 6 February 2024 afternoon on its premises. With Director Cheng Fong Meng hosting and administering the oath, the ceremony was held in the sight of Deputy Director Chio Song Un and other management personnel of the Bureau. 

 

At the ceremony, Director Cheng Fong Meng mentioned that thanks to the leadership and facilitation of the Secretary for Security, the new Personnel Statute for the Career of the Corps of Prison Guards and the System of the Recruitment and Promotion Examinations and the Training Programs of the Corps of Prison Guards had respectively entered into force, optimizing the admittance, promotion and training systems and career prospects for prison guards; the Correctional Services Bureau had also been actively launching procedures for prison guards’ recruitment and promotion in an orderly manner in a bid to create a more stable, professional and highly efficient team of prison guards. The new superintendents and senior chief officers are the first batch of personnel promoted to the senior ranks under the new career system; their swearing-in marked the effective implementation of the system, a new stage in the prison guard team construction undertaking and the further reinforcement of the Prison’s management and command. In addition, Director Cheng also encouraged the promotees to always remember the missions of corrections as they effectively lead their teams in the fulfillment of correctional responsibilities, as they bring their courage to bear responsibility, innovative spirit, professionalism and talents into full play and inject new ideas and impetus into prison administration, and as they relentlessly enhance the efficiency and standards of prison administration, push forward the high-quality development of prison management and contribute even further to the protection of social peace and the life and property of members of the public.

 

Four persons have been promoted to the rank of superintendent this time, and they are: Lao Iun Cheng, Lam Kam Sau, Lam Hoi Chak and Ip Lok Leong. The six new senior chief officers are: Wong Su Nam, Cheong Hoi Ian, Ho Ka Man, Chan Iok Lam, Leong Meng Lung and Ng Weng Keong.
