Response of the Correctional Services Bureau to the Suspected Violation of the Law by a Prison Guard (2024-03-25)

The Correctional Services Bureau is highly concerned about the case in which a foreign prison guard was transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office for suspected involvement in drug-related crimes, and will fully cooperate with the investigative work conducted by the related authorities.

In response to the case, the Correctional Services Bureau has immediately launched an internal disciplinary investigation against the said prison guard. Any person proven guilty of any criminal offence after the investigation will be held disciplinarily accountable in accordance with the law. Meanwhile, the Correctional Services Bureau has also notified its subordinate entities and subsidiary units about the case and required its entire staff to abide by their obligations and responsibilities, be self-disciplined, and uphold law and order at all times.

The Correctional Services Bureau is pained to learn of its staff member’s suspected violation of the law, and would like to reiterate that it always attaches great importance to the personal behavior and professional integrity of its staff, and that any proven breach of the law or the regulations by any staff member will be handled and punished lawfully and not be tolerated.
