Correctional Services Bureau Holds Youth Forum with Students of Cheong Kun Lun College, University of Macau (2019-11-13)

To deepenyoungsters’ understanding about correctional services and raise acceptance towardthe rehabilitation of inmates and juvenile delinquents, on 13 November, theCorrectional Services Bureau invited 42 students and instructors of Cheong KunLun College, University of Macau to a youth forum themed “Rebirth, YouthConnection”, during which they interacted with our management including DeputyDirector Loi Kam Wan, Director of Coloane Prison Ng Ioi On, and Director ofYouth Correctional Institution Yu Pui Lam. The visiting students andinstructors also toured the correctional facilities in Coloane Prison and had aface-to-face conversation with young inmates.

At the forum, the youngstudents actively asked questions, including those about the supervisionmeasures imposed on inmates, their rights and treatment, and the prison guards’recruitment examination, to which the personnel of the Bureau answered one byone. The forum concluded with Deputy Director Loi Kam Wan advising the youngvisitors to cherish the freedoms they enjoy as law-abiding citizens andencouraging them to join the ranks of prison guards and contribute to the goodorder of the society in Macao.

TheCorrectional Services Bureau will continue to organize youth-oriented forumsand activities to raise public understanding about corrections, enhancecommunication with youngsters, and broadcast the message of support to offenderrehabilitation. Such activities also serve to encourage young people toactively engage in social affairs and join in our efforts to build a harmoniousand inclusive society together.
