Inmates and Juvenile Delinquents’ Handicraft Exhibition 2024 to Open 5 July (2024-06-23)
The Inmates and Juvenile Delinquents’ Handicraft Exhibition 2024 will be held from 5 July afternoon to 7 July at the Macao Science Center’s Convention Hall. The Correctional Services Bureau hopes to use the exhibition as a platform to showcase inmates and juvenile delinquents’ learning achievements and determination to start afresh, raising support and acceptance from the society toward their rehabilitation.
Jointly organized by the Correctional Services Bureau and the Macao Science Center, and in association with the Municipal Affairs Bureau, the Social Welfare Bureau, and the Education and Youth Development Bureau, this year’s exhibition will be themed “Showcasing Talents, Fostering Inclusiveness, Rebuilding Lives”, and will display and sell a large variety of handicrafts – over 8,000 pieces, including hand-knitted sweaters, crochet ornaments, festive paper cutting art, wood and shell carving art, sawdust sculptures and handmade notebooks – each uniquely handmade by inmates or juvenile delinquents. Also featured at the exhibition venue are: electronic display boards showing the various offender rehabilitation services offered by the Correctional Services Bureau, the Social Welfare Bureau and the Education and Youth Development Bureau, a photo area at the Heart-shaped Tree Square, and ten booth games specially designed by a number of government departments and social service organizations. The Correctional Services Bureau’s care buddy, Shiny, will also be at the exhibition venue, calling on members of the public to uphold the spirit of love and care and to accept and support inmates and juvenile delinquents on their social rehabilitation journey. All members of the public are welcome at the exhibition.
This year’s exhibition will be held on 5 to 7 July. The opening times will be from 15:00 to 18:00 on 5 July and 10:00 to 18:00 on 6 and 7 July. Admission to the exhibition is free. With the game point card or the receipt of the purchase made on site, visitors can redeem a sticker that grants a free entry to the Exhibition Center of the Macao Science Center and the “Discover the Hall of Mental Cultivation” Exhibition. Members of the public are welcome for a visit to show support and acceptance toward offender rehabilitation.
