Correctional Services Bureau Holds Promotion Ceremony for Officers (2024-06-21)
The Correctional Services Bureau held a promotion ceremony for officers on 21 June 2024 afternoon on its premises. With Director Cheng Fong Meng hosting and administering the oath, the ceremony was held in the sight of Deputy Director Chio Song Un and other management personnel of the Bureau.
At the ceremony, Director Cheng Fong Meng highlighted the active and orderly efforts made by the Correctional Services Bureau, under the leadership of the Secretary for Security, to launch prison guards’ admittance and promotion procedures and optimize its talent echelon construction as well as the Bureau’s commitment to creating a more stable, professional and highly efficient team of prison guards. The Director went on to encourage the new officers to continue to give full play to their strengths as they dedicate themselves to the discharge of duties, enforcement of the law and making due contribution to our correctional work with perseverance, professionalism and impartiality. Lastly, the Director reiterated that correctional services take a long and arduous course, and thus the Correctional Services Bureau must step up its teambuilding efforts to continually elevate the professional and disciplinary standards of correctional personnel and enhance their professional image and credibility, as this will enable the more effective fulfillment of their responsibilities and the missions of corrections and the meaningful contribution to the protection of social peace and the life and property of members of the public.
Ten persons have been promoted to the rank of officer this time, and they are: Sin Son Chuen, Lei Tak Wai, Chu Hio Cheng, Loi Tin Hou, Chan Pou Chan, Sio Ieok Hou, Wong Ngai Ieong, Fan Ka Chan, Ma Ho Yin and Teng Hoi Ian. All the abovementioned new officers completed, with passing grades, a promotion training and internship program lasting over six months altogether, during which they were also sent to the Prison Administration of Guangdong Province and the Hong Kong Correctional Services Department for exchange learning activities. The program mainly encompassed the following subjects: security facility management and risk assessment, riot control tactics and response, security management of security-related information, prison affairs planning and management, public relations management practices, criminal procedure law, and criminal psychology.
