Swearing-in of Head of Repair and Maintenance Division of Correctional Services Bureau (2025-10-17)

The Correctional Services Bureau held on 17 October 2025 the swearing-in ceremony for a new member of its management, which saw Head of Repair and Maintenance Division Lei Ka Nang take the oath of office, administered by Director Cheng Fong Meng, in the sight of Deputy Director Lei Iat Meng and other management personnel of the Bureau.

In an address at the swearing-in ceremony, Director Cheng Fong Meng highlighted Division Head Lei’s extensive engineering expertise and related work experience gained from serving the Correctional Services Bureau for over 25 years. Director Cheng further commented that when the new prison was being built, Division Head Lei conscientiously coordinated and oversaw works projects, playing a proactive role in pushing forward the new prison’s construction progress; his work performance was highly commended. Director Cheng expressed his hopes for Division Head Lei to continue to leverage his professional expertise in his new role to lead his team in performing duties with high efficiency and a strong sense of responsibility, step up the coordination with relevant departments and entities to further improve repair and maintenance work, and actively research best practices and optimize the Bureau’s facilities, equipment, and management systems, ensuring greater safety and operational efficiency. Director Cheng also noted that the Correctional Services Bureau and Coloane Prison had been operating at the new site for a year, and thanks to the strong leadership of the superior authorities and the collective efforts of all staff members, operations are currently proceeding in an orderly manner, with all tasks implemented effectively. As correctional work takes a long and arduous course, Director Cheng urged all staff members to continue to strive forward together with the courage to take on responsibilities and innovate, to fully implement the policy objectives of the SAR Government and the security sector and the three policing philosophies, and to unite in promoting the steady and sustainable development of correctional services and contributing to safeguarding the stability and harmony of the society in Macao.

Division Head Lei Ka Nang obtained his bachelor’s degree in architecture from National Cheng Kung University, Taiwan Region and his Master of Science in Development and Planningfrom the University of London, the United Kingdom. He joined the Correctional Services Bureau in 2000 and has since been engaging in professional work in the fields of engineering and facility and equipment management. On 1 January 2025, he assumed the position as Acting Head of Repair and Maintenance Division. During his tenure at the Bureau, Division Head Lei has completed multiple professional training programs, including ones on the legal system of public works contracting, the public finance management system, safety concepts and operations of working at heights, and urban planning law. He also previously received the individual award and multiple group awards for his contributions.
