Activity Content

Topromote the message of support and acceptance for inmates and juveniledelinquents’ rehabilitation, the Correctional Services Bureau and the Civic andMunicipal Affairs Bureau held a hiking and tree protection activity on 21 Aprilat the Hác Sá Reservoir Country Park. A number of local community associationsand schools supported us by sending over 120 young individuals and students toparticipate.

Theday began with guests and participants being guided by our care buddy, Shiny,on a hike to the tree protection activity location, with staffers of the Civicand Municipal Affairs Bureau explaining the relevant knowledge on the way. Clearingof unwanted undergrowths, application of fertilizers and systematic irrigationare instrumental to the healthy growth of plants. Similarly, experiencing the varioussetbacks in their return to society, inmates and juvenile delinquents need support, acceptance and understanding to build their confidence in their socialreintegration, self-reliance and contribution to society. Aside from hiking andtree protection, the Bureau also set up two activity areas – named “Give ThemSupport Give Them Five!” and “We Are the Supporters!” – for the guests and thestudents to put “colorful flowers and leaves” created by their handprints onthe tree branches on the big backdrop, as well as take photos with Shiny andwrite down words of encouragement, respectively. Such activities, which addedto the happy atmosphere on the day, helped convey the guests and students’support and love to the inmates and the juvenile delinquents.
