About the service
Service offerings
Inmates are entitled to no less than an hour’s visit time each week.
Target group and eligibility
- Individuals aged 16 or above with the lawful right to reside or stay in Macao;
- The Permit is not required for inmates’ children or siblings under 16, but they have to present valid identification document(s) and be accompanied by a Permit holder or an authorized visitor when paying a visit.
Service results
After the Permit is issued, the applicant can visit the inmate on the date and time arranged by Coloane Prison.
How to apply
Application procedure and necessary documents
Applicants must apply in person and submit the following documents:
- Application for Visiting Permit (to be provided and filled out by Coloane Prison –Registration Team);
- Copy of valid identification document(s);
- Two 1½” recent color photos;
- Copy of proof of applicant’s residential address (e.g. water bill, electricity bill);
- Copy of valid Non-resident Worker’s Identification Card;
- Copy of Marriage Certificate;
Note:
- Items 1 to 3 above are compulsory while Items 4 to 6 are optional depending on the actual circumstances.
- When copies are submitted for application, originals must be presented for verification.

Necessary time for approval
To be completed within 7 working days as of the day when all necessary documents are received and the consent of the inmate is obtained. (Performance Pledge)
Remarks / important notes when applying
- Applicants can choose to collect the Visiting Permit either at Coloane Prison or Correctional Services Bureau Service and Information Centre when lodging the application. The person collecting the Visiting Permit on behalf of the applicant must submit an authorization letter issued by the applicant and a copy of the applicant’s ID document and present the original of his or her own ID document.
- If the Visiting Permit is lost, please apply again. Visits can only be resumed after approval of the Correctional Services Bureau is obtained and the new Visiting Permit is issued.
